Kickboxing is an exciting, high-intensity experience that combines elements of martial arts such as Muay Thai and Boxing to deliver the ultimate full body workout. The class consists of high energy cardio and strength building workouts that are further enhanced by detailed striking skills and combinations on heavy bags, thai pads, and focus mitts. For the advanced students, sparring sessions are also offered as a way to test and polish your skills for use in self defense along with being the best total body workout you can find.
For students ages 6 to 13, the Illinois Martial Arts Academy provides essential training that helps children navigate the unique challenges of their age, with a strong focus on “Bully Proofing” techniques that teach them how to recognize and appropriately respond to both physical and emotional threats. At a time when kids are forming their core values and habits, our program offers life lessons in a supportive environment that builds confidence, self-discipline, and respect. Through goal-oriented training, positive social interaction, and consistent encouragement, students gain the full benefits of martial arts while developing strong character and interpersonal skills in a safe, engaging setting.
Jiujitsu is a highly effective and diverse martial art that emphasizes real-world self-defense and physical fitness through a blend of striking, throwing, and grappling techniques. Students learn to control opponents using leverage, timing, and technique—whether standing or on the ground. Grappling, a core skill, involves pinning, escapes, and submission holds, practiced both with and without the traditional gi. Throwing techniques teach balance disruption and safe falling, while striking focuses on managing distance rather than knockouts. Classes end with live sparring—called "rolling"—where students safely apply techniques in real time, building confidence, strategy, and control in a supportive, ego-free environment.

Chuck Masny began his martial arts journey at the age of 13 in the art of American Karate. After earning his black belt in 1997, he soon became curious about the vast world of martial arts beyond Karate and began cross training in both Boxing and Muay Thai. He quickly developed and interest in grappling when he discovered the Japanese martial art of Goshin Jujitsu and it didn’t take long before Chuck was introduced to Brazilian Jiujitsu where he immediately felt as though he found the “missing piece”.
Chuck Masny considers himself an “eternal student of the martial arts” and over the past almost 30 years, he has continuously sought opportunities to broaden his knowledge and skill sets. Through his diverse training background, Chuck has developed an extremely broad skill set for modern day self defense. Along with that, he is also very experienced in several weapons based arts becoming proficient with traditional and modern knife fighting, swordsmanship, and archery.
After many years of competition within several of the combat sport arenas (such as karate, jiujitsu, judo, kickboxing, and MMA), he now focuses most of his time on teaching. Currently, he continues his pursuit of mastery in the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu through the Renato Tavares Association, along with continued training in Boxing, Muay Thai, Judo, Wrestling and Kali.
